Cave of Punta des Forn

The Cave of Punta des Forn (Cova des Forn)

Cala San Vicente, a charming seaside resort in northern Ibiza, offers more than just a peaceful coastline. In addition to the well-known lighthouse ‘Faro de sa Punta Grossa’ and the historic Tanit cave ‘Cova des Culleram,’ there’s another hidden gem: the impressive cave of Punta des Forn, also known as **Cova des Forn** or ‘la cuava inclinada.’

The Magical Cave of Punta des Forn

The cave of Punta des Forn is a natural masterpiece, shaped by the power of seawater and the test of time. The striking rock formations with enormous ‘folds’ and a large slanted opening create a spectacular view. From the cave, you can also enjoy a stunning view of the abandoned lighthouse **Faro de sa Punta Grossa**, making this location even more special.

The cave is easy to reach and ideal for visitors looking to explore an impressive site without too much effort. It also offers fantastic photo opportunities — a must-see for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

The Abandoned ‘Alla Dins’ Hotel Site

Near the cave lies the mysterious abandoned hotel site called **‘Alla Dins’**. This former 3-star hotel has now mostly fallen into ruin and is covered in graffiti. You can still recognize the outlines of the reception, the restaurant, and the pool bar. The pool is empty and overgrown with plants, and scattered around are various pieces of furniture like sunbeds, tables, and chairs.

Although the old hotel rooms have now been sold and renovated as apartments, the abandoned atmosphere of the site still provides a haunting and intriguing experience for visitors. This decaying location brings to mind the infamous TenBel holiday complex in Tenerife — once a prestigious destination, now a shadow of its former self.

Location and Accessibility

To reach the cave of Punta des Forn, set your GPS to the **Alla Dins** residential area. The route takes you along a steep, dead-end winding road that eventually ends at the abandoned complex. Park your car near the restaurant and pool, then follow the path to the left of the building. This path takes you past the pool and through the trees towards the sea. At the back, you will see an old concrete staircase that is somewhat worn but still accessible. Follow this staircase down, turn right, and you’ll reach the impressive cave. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and avoid flip-flops, as the ground can be slippery and rocky. From the parking area, it’s about a 10-minute walk.
