Stonehenge Ibiza

Stonehenge Ibiza / ‘Time and Space’

Near Cala Codolar lies a unique and mystical artwork known as Stonehenge Ibiza or officially ‘Time and Space.’ This impressive monument, consisting of 13 monoliths, immediately evokes associations with the famous Stonehenge in Britain. Despite its striking appearance, this location remains a hidden gem for many visitors to Ibiza.

The History of ‘Time and Space’

The artwork was built in 2014 by order of Canadian billionaire Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil. The Australian artist Andrew Rogers designed the monument, which was constructed without a permit — resulting in a hefty fine for Laliberté. Fortunately, the artwork was allowed to remain, and that’s a good thing!

The 13 impressive stone pillars are strategically placed in a circular pattern. The tallest pillar is adorned with gold leaf and forms the radiant centerpiece of the structure. This remarkable installation exudes calm and mysticism, similar to the spiritual energy of Es Vedrà.

Perfect Sunset Spot

‘Time and Space’ is an ideal spot to enjoy a stunning sunset. Feel free to bring some snacks and drinks, but please respect the environment and ensure you clean up after yourself. The serene character of this location makes it perfect for relaxation and reflection.

Las Puertas Can Soleil

Near the monument, you’ll find another fascinating attraction: the mystical Las Puertas Can Soleil. These impressive doors stand opposite each other, symbolizing a room without walls. The doors feature beautiful inscriptions and Arabic motifs, including the famous ‘Hand of Fatima’ — a protective symbol in Islamic culture that is also associated with the goddess Tanit, the protector of Ibiza.

If you look through the doors from the right angle, you can see the magical island of Es Vedrà on the horizon — a spectacular view and a perfect photo spot for a memorable selfie!
