Advertising and affiliate links

ibizamap.nl is free to use. We earn money from ads and partner links. This page explains how to recognise them and how we make sure they don't influence our content.

How to recognise an ad

Anything a business pays us for is labelled Advertisement. This applies to:

• sponsored places, as a highlighted card in the list or as a pin on the map;
• ad blocks on pages;
• paid articles (advertorials): the label then appears at the top of the article, together with the advertiser's name.

Every ad shows which business it is from. Ads are clearly separated from our own content. We don't place ads over the map, nor on legal, contact or error pages.

In each of the site's languages we use these labels:

• Language: Italian · Label: Pubblicità

Partner links (affiliate links)

Some places and activities include links to booking sites, such as GetYourGuide and Civitatis. If you book through such a link, we may receive a commission from that partner.

• A block of partner links carries the label Advertisement. A single partner link in a text is marked (affiliate link).
• They are plain links, with no scripts from the partner on our site. On the partner's site, its own cookie and privacy rules apply.
• Whether we might earn a commission plays no part in which places and activities we describe or recommend.

What happens technically

• All paid links and partner links carry the attribute rel="sponsored", so search engines also know they are paid links.
• When you click an ad or partner link, the click goes through ibizamap's own redirect link. That lets us count clicks anonymously, without storing your IP address.
• We don't use ad networks, tracking cookies or profiles. Which ad you see depends only on the island, the type of place, the language and the page, never on data about you.

What advertisers can't buy

• Inclusion on the site, or a positive text.
• The "Editor's pick" or "On the rise" label.
• Ratings, or the removal of ratings.
• A higher position in the normal order. Read how that order is set on how we rank.
• Links that search engines count towards their rankings.
