What to expect at Rolling Stones Beach

Close to the Botafoc ferry terminal, on the edge of Ibiza Town (municipality of Eivissa), there’s a small pebble beach known as Rolling Stones Beach. It lies between Talamanca beach and the ferry port. If you arrive on one of the big ferries, this is the first beach near the terminal.

The beach has no official name. ‘Rolling Stones Beach’ is a nickname used by locals and visitors.

It’s a simple beach of pebbles and stones, with no beach bar or sunloungers. That makes it best suited to a quick dip close to town, for instance while you’re waiting for a boat.

Getting there and parking

By car, take Carrer de la Mola from Talamanca; the beach is on the seafront there. There’s no official car park, but you can often find a space in the nearby streets. Watch the signs: parking rules can vary from street to street.

From the ferry terminal, it’s a few minutes’ walk.

Facilities

There are no facilities: no beach bar or restaurant, no sunloungers or parasols, no toilets, no showers and no lifeguard. Bring your own water, something to eat and shade. For food and drink, head to the area around Talamanca and the marina.

Bring a beach mat or a low beach chair: pebbles and stones are less comfortable to lie on than sand.

Tips for your visit

• Wear water shoes: the beach is all pebbles and stones.
• About 500 m to the south-east, at the end of Carrer de s’Illa Grossa, there’s a viewpoint with views in every direction over the sea and the harbour.
• Pick a day when the sea is calm: with waves, getting in and out of the water over the stones is tricky.
• If you’d rather have a sandy beach, Talamanca beach is within walking distance to the north.
• Take your rubbish away with you.

Safety

The ferry port and the shipping lane into the harbour are close by. So don’t swim far out, and watch out for boats and the wash from passing ships. There’s no lifeguard, so ideally don’t swim alone.
