Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta

What makes Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta special

Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta are two neighbouring coves on Ibiza’s west coast, about 4 km north of Sant Antoni. A rocky cliff separates them, and a coastal path of about 200 m links them. Both coves are in the municipality of Sant Antoni de Portmany.

Cala Salada is the larger of the two and the easier to reach. On the seabed, sand, rocks and seagrass (Posidonia) alternate. At the foot of the cliff stands a row of boathouses with small, hand-built jetties.

Cala Saladeta is smaller: about 60 to 70 m long, according to the town council. The cove lies between medium-height cliffs and woodland, which shelter it from the wind. The water is clear and the seabed is sandy.

Facilities

According to the town council, at Cala Salada you’ll find:

• a restaurant, the only one on the beach
• sunloungers for hire
• a lifeguard in summer
• access for people with reduced mobility

Cala Saladeta has no tourist facilities, although the town council does mention a lifeguard in summer. Bring your own water, food and shade.

Getting there and parking

In season, you can’t simply drive down to Cala Salada. For 2026, the town council brought in access controls from 1 May to 15 October, every day from 09:30 to 17:00. Motorbikes, bicycles, taxis and vehicles belonging to people with reduced mobility can still get through, as can residents and people who work there. The council wants to prevent traffic chaos and keep the road clear for the emergency services. The risk of forest fires here is very high.

You can park for free at the Can Coix park-and-ride and take the bus to the cove from there. In 2026 that’s route P7, which runs from Sant Antoni bus station via Can Coix to Cala Salada. You can also take the boat from Sant Antoni harbour, which docks at a small jetty in Cala Salada.

To get to Cala Saladeta, walk from Cala Salada along the coastal path of about 200 m, past low cliffs. There’s no other access by land.

Tips for your visit

• Wear shoes with good grip for the path to Cala Saladeta; flip-flops are awkward on the rocks.
• The town council describes a snorkelling route in Cala Saladeta along the rock face, starting from the right-hand point of the cove. A shipwreck lies on the sandy seabed at a depth of about 5 m.
• In July and August, arrive early, or take the bus or the boat.
• Take your rubbish home with you, especially from Cala Saladeta, where there are no facilities.

Safety and nature

• Don’t jump off the rocks into the water: the depth is hard to judge and there may be rocks below the surface.
• The town council describes the risk of forest fires here as very high. From 1 May to 15 October, recreational fires are banned in woodland. Don’t smoke among the trees either.
• If you’re arriving in your own boat, don’t anchor over seagrass (Posidonia). This is prohibited; only the designated buoys may be used.
