What makes the Cala Pada swing special

On the rocky coast west of Cala Pada, a wooden swing used to hang above a small inlet, with the sea as a backdrop. The spot became known through photos on social media. The wooden swing has since been taken down; in 2024 a sturdy rope hung in its place. So what you find there now may be different.

The inlet lies between reddish-brown rocks, with a tiny beach and a few traditional boathouses. There are no facilities.

About Cala Pada

Cala Pada is a cove in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, between Es Niu Blau and S’Argamassa. Its fine sandy beach is about 195 m long and surrounded by low, pine-covered cliffs. The seabed is a mix of sand, rock and posidonia seagrass, which makes the cove interesting for snorkelling.

The beach has showers, sunloungers and parasols, plus a diving school, a sailing school and a windsurfing school. In the middle of the beach there’s a jetty for small boats. You’ll find restaurants in the area.

Getting there and parking

There are two ways to reach the swing.

• From the beach: park at Cala Pada. Standing on the beach facing the sea, head right, past the water sports rental, and follow the shoreline. After a 5–10 minute walk you’ll reach the swing.
• Through the woods: park near Cala Pada and walk through the woods towards the sea. After a short walk you’ll come out at the swing.

Whichever route you take, park where you won’t block traffic or driveways.

You can carry on along the coast to Es Niu Blau. The swing there is about 600 m further west, so you can combine the two.

Tips for your visit

• Come early in the morning or around sunset, when the light is softer.
• Bring water, especially on hot days.
• Water shoes are handy on the rocky shore.
• If others are there, wait patiently for your turn.
• Take your rubbish back with you.
